The Business

The Group is involved in fixed wing and rotary wing Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (“MRO”) throughout the Australasian region, and aircraft and parts sales globally. (Turnover > $50 million, Staff = 240).

  • Supported, directed and mentored the Finance Team to deliver better quality and timelier financial results reporting.
  • Worked as an enabler driving significant change across the total business.

The Challenge

The Group went through high growth (> 30%) in an 18-month period, placing increased pressure on existing resources and capabilities.

An independent financial review conducted by BDO identified the Finance Team required a strong CFO and the Board needed more capable governance and financial systems expertise.

The Result

  • Significantly improved the interface between the operating/transactional systems and the General Ledger reporting system.
  • Developed and implemented a comprehensive and seasonalised Trading Budgets model and a monthly Board Reporting Pack.
  • Introduced a formal Work In Progress (“WIP”) review process that significantly reduced the investment in WIP.
  • Worked effectively with the Board and other Key Stakeholders in focusing on key issues and opportunities to move towards a sustainable business model.
